The 10 Best Documentaries In Recent Memory

2. Searching for Sugar Man

Searching for Sugar Man

The Movie: 70’s artist Sixto Rodriguez, who hasn’t sold a single one of his two albums in the US, finds out one day that he is a musical legend in South Africa.

Why Its Great: If you still think Bob Dylan is crazy talented, wait until you get a load of this guy. He basically helped stopped Apartheid from continuing in South Africa with his lyrics, and before this movie came out, ALMOST NOBODY IN AMERICA KNEW WHO HE WAS.

If It Wasn’t A Documentary: It would be directed by Bob Dylan and he would star in it.

1. Man On Wire

Man On Wire

The Movie: French tightrope walker Phillipe Petit commits the most badass crime ever: Tightrope walking from the tops of the world trade center, all caught on film.

Why Its Great: This movie is number 1 not because it tests our mentality like many other lists on the film, but the whole process of what this guy did just to have a little illegal fun is pretty entertaining, and would play out perfectly as a movie.

If It Wasn’t A Documentary: It would be directed by Steven Soderbergh and would star the guy from Holy Motors, because he can do pretty much anything.
