I don’t believe Oscar in this category at all,they didn’t award both Stanley Kubrick and Alfred Hitchcock,two of the greatest directors ever lived.However,Criterion also does not do a good job of collecting those great works from some Oscar Best Directors including Frank Capra,WilliamWyler,George Cukor etc.Let’s wait and see what happens. Since I spent a week at home during Chinese New Year without watching any films this month,I only managed to watch 17 films in 24 days.10 out of 17 are Criterion Collection films,they come from different countries (Japan,Korea,USA,France,England,Italy,Czech),different style(noir,college comedy,period drama etc.),different era(Early Hollywood,Japanese New Wave,Czech New Wave,etc.),but one thing in common,that is GREAT QUALITY as usual.
