The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and spring is on its way at long last. Awards season feels like a dim and distant memory already, so movie lovers all over the world are starting to look forward to a whole new chapter in the Hollywood calendar. This is the time for crowd pleasing, easy going films that are sure to pack out movie theatres with their big budgets and familiar faces.

As blockbuster season fast approaches, we’ve put together a rundown of some of the most hotly anticipated features of 2013. There’s something here for everyone so take your pick and then start counting the days!

 

1. The Host

Release Date: March 29th

Fans of the Twilight series are eagerly awaiting the release of The Host, which is based on the latest novel by the same author. The story leans more towards sci-fi than fantasy this time, and Melanie must risk everything to protect her loved ones from an alien invasion that threatens to take over the bodies of everyone on Earth.

 

2. Iron Man 3

Release Date: May 3rd

In the third instalment of this ever popular marvel superhero franchise, Tony Stark’s world is destroyed at the hands of malevolent new enemy and he is looking for justice. After being backed in to a corner Stark must rely on his wits if he is going to survive. He will soon have an answer to the question that haunts him; does the man make the suit, or does the suit make the man?
