The 10 Coolest Movie Gadgets You Wish You Owned

12 March 2013 | Features, Film Lists, Guest Posts | by David Zou

The charm of movie is the possibility to create all kinds of awesome gadgets, whether they are realistic or not. Though technology has developed rapidly over the years, it’s still hard to catch up with people’s wild imaginations in movies. There are tons of cool gadgets that we are anxiously waiting for their realizations. Here we’ve rounded up 10 of the coolest movie gadgets which we hope will come to real life soon.

10. Bat-Shark Repellent Spray (Batman: The Movie, 1966)

Anybody who has seen this clip can testify to its hilarious effectiveness. In this scene when Robin ‘accidently’ dips Batman in the ocean for a few seconds and he emerges being mauled by a 7ft shark the unworried Adam West calls to his trusty side kick to throw down the ‘Shark Repellent’. Robin hurries to the back of the helicopter (leaving it unpiloted) and picks the shark repellent from the wall, making sure not to confuse it with the whale or manta-ray repellents that they also have stocked, before throwing it down to Batman and returning to the helicopter controls. One cannot deny that this amazing feat of technology would come in very handy when being attacked by a shark… out of water.

9. X-ray Glasses (The World Is Not Enough, 1999)

The X-ray glasses are a classic among film and TV gadgets and if one character was born to use them, it was the womanising death machine 007. Bond uses his glasses so see weapons tucked into sultry suspender belts in the casino.
